2Pi-Jobs is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
The International ASEAN Accession Adviser is responsible for providing high-level strategic advisory assistance, technical advice, and capacity building to MNEC and relevant ministries in planning, preparing, escalating and coordinating its activities and human resources towards the adoption and implementation of key ASEAN economic commitments, which fall under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), as identified in the Roadmap, and in preparation for ASEAN membership.

Job Responsibilities

The International ASEAN Accession Adviser will:
Support MNEC and the ASEAN National Secretariat (DGAA) to implement economic accession requirements and other AEC related milestones under the Roadmap for Timor-Leste’s full membership.
Provide advice to MNEC, the ASEAN National Secretariat (DGAA) and relevant Government agencies on key strategic and sequential considerations for the broad economic accession agenda, particularly on adopting essential ASEAN economic instruments and agreements.

Other Educational Qualification

Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in economics or equivalent experience.

Skills

At least eight years’ experience of working on regional economic integration and economic policy issues, especially in the Southeast Asia region.
Previous experience of supporting and/or engaging in trade negotiation in ASEAN.
Excellent communication, liaison and interpersonal skills within a cross-cultural environment.
Ability to comprehend and analyse complex situations, provide appropriate advice and offer practical solutions.
Previous experience of working with ASEAN Secretariat or ASEAN Member countries in economic integration and trade related field.
Some competencies in Tetun or Malayu.
